Editorial Standards
Updated on Jan 11, 2026
At Open Rate Club, our mission is to be the most trusted source for email marketing and deliverability advice on the internet. To do that, we adhere to strict editorial standards. We don’t just “content farm” reviews; we treat this as a service to the community.
1. Independence & Integrity
Our primary responsibility is to you, the reader.
- No Pay-to-Play: We do not accept payment for favorable reviews, rankings, or ratings. A vendor cannot buy their way onto our “Best Of” lists.
- Affiliate Transparency: While we use affiliate links to sustain our business, these relationships never dictate our editorial content. If a tool pays a high commission but performs poorly in our tests, we will say it performs poorly.
2. Our Testing Philosophy
We believe you can’t review software you haven’t used.
- Hands-On Testing: We sign up for accounts, import data, set up automations, and run through real-world scenarios.
- Real-World Scenarios: We test for the friction points—the confusing UIs, the hidden limits, and the support teams that reply with automated bots.
- Ongoing Updates: Software changes fast. We commit to revisiting and updating our reviews to reflect the current state of the product, not what it was three years ago.
3. Accuracy & Corrections
We strive for 100% accuracy, but we are human.
- Fact-Checking: We verify pricing, feature lists, and technical specs against the vendor’s official documentation and our own observations.
- Corrections: If we make a mistake, we admit it. We update the content and, where significant, add a note explaining the correction.
4. Constructive Criticism
We are critical, not cynical.
- Our goal is to help you find the right tool, not just to bash bad ones.
- When we criticize a feature or a platform, we explain why it matters to your business (e.g., “This lack of segmentation will hurt your ROI because…”).
